Wordless Theology

Once I was a man of God,
believing in every word dictated.

This is the Qur’anic God!
And this God does not look friendly;
you sin, you rot in hell!!!
I felt extremely uneasy and looked for
“another version” of God.

Once I was a man of God,
believing that the best explanation
for this illogical existence is that
it was created by an almighty being
that is beyond everything;
beyond reason, beyond time,
beyond comprehension.

This is a philosophical God.
It’s not for those who seek comfort,
redemption and eternal happiness.
It’s a boring God; a God you can ignore.
Gives you all the privileges
of being an atheist without
having to become one.
I felt like a hypocrite.

Once I was a man of God,
believing that I knew nothing
but still looking for God.
I felt stupid and ridiculous.

Now I am just a man,
trying to make his life worth living.
Believing nothing, knowing nothing.
A thoughtless, wordless theology.
