[On the Judgment Day. God talks to an agnostic]
God: Did you believe in Me, my son?
Agnostic: Oh, forgive me Lord for I had neither the ability nor one good practical reason to know or believe in You. You were simply irrelevant to my way of knowing in the world. I didn’t think I was able to know anything about You. And for that reason, I disregarded theology and suspended any judgment concerning You and could only wish that You might give me a hint on the way here. And I guess you give me nothing but those evidenceless Scriptures. I was an agnostic, Lord.
God: You, what? Come again?
Agnostic: I was an agnostic, my Lord. You know, Huxley, Russel?
[God is wise and He looks for Moses, Jesus and Muhammad; prophets of the three great religions]
God: Do you guys know what he means with being agnostic? Do we have the word in the Scriptures?
Moses: Hmm….I know only the Law, Lord.
Jesus: No, Father, I’m sorry I don’t.
Muhammad: Never heard of it.
[God turns His face to the agnostic, who remains confident with his conviction]
God: Had I not made myself clear when you’re still in the world?
Agnostic: No, Lord.
God: Really? OK, then, let Me probe you for a while so that I could understand you. I hope you don’t mind.
[God is indeed wise]
